Take me to the North!

Last weekend we took a great camping trip into the Manistee National Forest. I love love love camping and this was just another wonderful time with friends. We also visited a yummy ice cream parlor in Pentwater and the Little AuSable Lighthouse in Shelby. The weekend was truly a spiritual and relaxing time with God and friends. I'm so thankful for those times of extra refreshing!

Mother's Day

I want to publicly say that I am so thankful for my mom. She took a lot of time and still does to encourage me to live a life for God. I praise God for my mom!

Peek-a-boo!

Peek-a-boo! Where's my shoe?
Peek-a-boo! I have no clue.

Peek-a-boo! Who's in the zoo?
Peek-a-boo! A bear named Pooh.

Peek-a-boo! What's in the stew?
Peek-a-boo! I think it's glue.

Peek-a-boo! How do you do?
Peek-a-boo! Blue? Boo hoo!

Elijah is a cheery sort. He brings a smile to my face and I love that. Just thinking about him makes me smile! So if you feel blue because there is glue in your stew or because you have no clue where to find your shoe or because Pooh got left at the zoo, just remember...Boo hoo..hoo...there is much more to life than being blue about life. So enjoy life, today only happens once!

broken egg, loved

Do you ever feel like you are like a little egg that has fallen from it's nest, hit the hard ground and broken? I encountered one of those eggs today. It was beautiful even though it was broken. It's color was still brilliant and it drew my attention. I asked God to come close to me today. My heart felt a bit like the broken egg. After spending time outside my heart was lifting but what really did it was when I got back home.

My friends David and Shannon are moving. They are my neighbors from across the street. Ever since I moved onto Mechanic St. they have been a real light in my life. Their cheerfulness is contagious and it has brought many smiles to gloomy days. Luckily they are not moving far, just to the other end of the street, but even so they won't be right there. Shannon won't be there to bounce across the street to ask how I'm doing, or share garden advice. So I decided that since they are working hard to get their new house ready to move into that I would invite them for supper.

Soon we were eating and enjoying talking. God was right there. They began to minister to my heart just like I had asked God for this morning. For the next 2 hours we talked about Calvary. My heart was drinking it in and I began to realize that God was answering my prayer. He knew just what I needed and although David and Shannon had no clue, they were being used by God in a very special way. A couple of times I felt tears forming when I started to think about what God was doing right then to encourage me.

After they left those tears flowed from my eyes in gratitude for how much God loves me. Tonight I felt the love of Jesus through David and Shannon and I pray to never forget that. God has been good to me and I love Him with all my heart!

Finally Floral Lane

Floral Lane. This 30 minute hike to the beach is my favorite. You can see Lake Michigan in the distance as you climb over several dunes. Then finally the last one delivers you onto the beach and it is beautiful. Chilly, yes, but there is nothing like experiencing it for the first time of the season.

Fernwood

This is a beautiful place just outside of Berrien Springs that has brought God near to me this spring. Today I got to take a couple of friends with me and we had a blast hiking the trails and taking some fun pictures. Spring is a reminder of renewal and God's ability to bring back to life everything that has passed through a long winter. Actually all the flowers and plants have to freeze before they can reproduce again. Interesting how sometimes it seems to be the same with us.
