A couple weeks ago God gave me the inspiration and motivation to begin memorizing Bible verses. So I decided to give myself a 30 day challenge of memorizing a verse each day. Today is day 12. It's so much fun and encouraging to have all these texts rolling around in my mind. Each text I've chosen has meaning or reason behind memorizing it. I want a new mind, one that's filled with God and void of worry and negative thinking. So I praise God for the fun I'm having. Now I'm going to practice by writing them one here. Hope you are blessed!
Day 1: Daniel 6:26,27" For He is the living God and steadfast forever. His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed. His dominion shall endure until the end. He delivers and rescues. He works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth. Who has delivered Daniel from the power of the lions."
I chose that one because I love how God delivers Daniel. I want that kind of power in my life... the kind that rescues me from the 'lions' in my life.
Day2: Psalms 16:11 " You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. At your right hand are pleasure forevermore."
Praise God, I want to experience God's pleasures for me.
Day 3: Proverbs 3: 25,26 " Do not be afraid of sudden terror or trouble from the wicked when it comes. For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught."
I liked that because of the promise that God would keep me from being trapped. I don't need to fear because He's in control!
Day 4: 2Cor. 4:16,17 "Therefore we do not lose heart even though the outward man is perishing yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is for but a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory."
Being renewed day by day is what I'm looking for and it's for the final glory of seeing Jesus.
Day 5: Rom. 12:2" Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. That you may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God."
Again, I want a renewed mind so I may be able to discern the will of God.
Day 6: 1Peter 5:6-11 "Therefore humble yourselves before the almighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Casting all your cares on Him for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant, for your adversary, the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. But may the God of all mercy, who has called us to his glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you. To God be the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
This was probably one of my favorites to memorize because of the challenge in it and also the victory there. I love it!
Day 7: Ps. 43:5 "Why are you down cast O my soul? And why disquieted within me? Hope thou in God. For I shall yet praise Him. Who is the help on my countenance and my God."
This is an obvious one to lift discouragement and change the outlook.
Day 8 through Day 10: Matt 6: 25-34 " Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life. What you will eat, what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you, by worrying, can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about your clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin. Yet, I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God can clothe the grass of the field which today is and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you? O you of little faith!" Therefore, do not worry saying, what shall we eat or what shall drink or what shall we wear? For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your Heavenly Father knows you need all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the today is its own trouble."
Don't worry! I didn't choose this because I was worried about clothes or food. I think the bigger picture to this text is even the smallest things shouldn't be worried about and if God can take care of all that He has created than He can and will surely take care of my heart needs. Praise God!
Day 11: Ps. 68:19 "Blessed be the Lord. Who daily loads us with benefits. The God of our salvation!"
I love the "loads" part. God wants us to be happy so He daily loads us with benefits. My life has benefits!
Day 12 : Phil. 4: 8,9 " Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report. If there be any virtue and if anything is praiseworthy, meditate on these things. These things which you have learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace with be with you. "
I want my mind to rest of good things so this will stand as a good reminder when my mind needs help.
So these are the treasures I've learned so far and what a blessing they are. I can feel my mind becoming renewed more and more. So I praise God for the initial inspiration to memorize to renew. I hope you are inspired too!
